The Blood Behind The Covenant

?"The Blood Behind the Covenant"

Introduction:

Grace and peace to you, family. Today, we’re diving deep into the foundation of our faith—the very thing that gives life to every promise of God: the blood behind the covenant.

The word "covenant" sounds holy and ancient—but without the blood, it's just a contract. It's the blood that makes it sacred. It's the blood that makes it eternal. It’s the blood that cost Heaven everything... and it’s the blood that bought you.

? Hebrews 9:22 (ESV)"Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins."

Point 1: Covenants Are Cut, Not Just Spoken

In the Old Testament, covenants weren’t signed—they were cut. The Hebrew word for covenant, “berith,” literally means “to cut.” When God made a covenant with Abraham, animals were split in two as a sign of blood agreement (Genesis 15:9–18). Why? Because true covenant demands sacrifice.

? Every covenant requires blood because sin has a cost. Life is the price.

Point 2: The Old Covenant Was Temporary—The Blood Was Not Enough

The Old Covenant required repeated animal sacrifices. Bulls, goats, and lambs were offered over and over again. But Hebrews 10:4 says:

? “For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.”

That blood covered sin temporarily, but it couldn’t cleanse the conscience. It was a shadow of something greater—a better blood, a better priest, a better promise.

Point 3: Jesus—The Lamb Who Sealed the Eternal Covenant

Enter Jesus.

? Hebrews 9:12 (NLT)"With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever."

Jesus didn’t just sign the covenant; He became the sacrifice. His blood wasn’t spilled accidentally. It was poured out intentionally—on the cross, on the mercy seat of Heaven, on the altar of eternity.

? The blood behind this covenant is divine, incorruptible, and everlasting.

Point 4: What the Blood Secures

Because of the blood behind the covenant, you now have:

  • Forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7)

  • Bold access to God (Hebrews 10:19)

  • A new identity as sons and daughters (Galatians 4:7)

  • Victory over the enemy (Revelation 12:11)

This blood doesn't fade. It doesn't weaken. It doesn't expire. The blood speaks—better things than the blood of Abel (Hebrews 12:24). It cries out, not for vengeance, but for mercy!

Conclusion:

Child of God, never forget what seals your relationship with Heaven. You’re not held by works. You’re not secured by religion. You are bound to God by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

? Let’s pray:
“Father, thank You for the blood behind the covenant. Thank You for Jesus—the Lamb slain for us. We receive Your promises today not in our own strength, but by the blood that never loses its power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
